"URBAN TRANSFORMATIONS, CREATIVE ECOSYSTEMS AND SOCIAL COHESION: European Cultural Policy, from Crisis to Development":  Ravello LAB sixth edition starts at Villa Rufolo from 27th October 2011.

The sixth edition of Ravello LAB - International Forum, organized by Federculture and European University Centre for Cultural Heritage, with the scientific supervision of Prof. Pier Luigi Sacco, will take place from 27th to 29th October 2011.

Ravello LAB – International Forum is an annual meeting that proposes analysis and debates about European cultural policy as keys for territorial development. The recent economical and financial crisis states the matter to find new paradigms of growth centred on culture and creativity around which it could be possible to build new strategies of sustainable development.

The programme foresees the deepening of the addresses given by European institutions about the link among strategies of cultural intervention, cultural and urban policies and territorial development.

Considering the positive result of the last edition issues, the lab will keep on deepening the relationship between culture and urban growth with a specific focus on great cultural events as a starting point for strategic and integrated planning activities, useful to economic development, urban requalification and social inclusion.

In this context, the Ravello LAB International Forum sets out to make a useful contribution to reorienting public policies focusing on the relationship between culture, creative industries and local development, as well as to increase awareness that it is here that the European economy will make or break its future competitive capacity on the international scene.

A particular attention will be reserved to the need of governance arisen by the most advanced experiences of territorial valorisation from the point of view of partnership between public and private dimensions.

The elements of economic development based on culture will be constantly interrelated with the strategic function carried on by culture to achieve the social cohesion.

The forthcoming edition of Ravello LAB will also offer an opportunity to examine the issues raised by the European Year of Volunteering, in particular how it relates to cultural and socio-economic development policies, emphasising the possibilities that this area of activity holds out for non-profit organisations – especially those involving young people – to achieve growth.

Another important topic for the Forum will be the quality of training available for those whose work in both the public and the private sectors involves dealing with a new vision of culture as a driver of local development.

Ravello’s geographical location and cultural traditions naturally also encourage the Lab to spotlight Euro-Mediterranean issues.

The forthcoming edition of Ravello LAB will be framed among three days, following the already well-used pattern of workshop, with institutional representatives and experts.

The topics of the days are:

- Cultural based strategic planning in urban areas - Culture and Cities.

- Instruments of territorial governance and management models - Culture and   Territories.

- Cultural driven innotavion processes - Culture and Innovation.

The final output of the workshops will be useful to draw up thethe "Ravello LAB Agenda", an important document which will be presented to the European Concil, to Euroepan Commision, and to National Bodies and Istitutions.
